Psalms 53

Psalm 53

There Is No One Who Does Good

For the choir director. According to
Sickness, a sad tone
Mahalath. A
Possibly Contemplative, Didactic, Skillful Psalm
Maskil of David.

1The wicked fool says in his heart, “There is no God,”
They act corruptly, and commit abominable injustice;
There is no one who does good.
2God looks down from heaven upon the sons of men
To see if there is anyone who has insight,
Anyone who seeks after God.
3Every one of them has turned back; together they have become
Or corrupt
worthless;
There is no one who does good, not even one.
4Do the workers of iniquity not know,
Who eat up my people as they eat bread
And do not call upon God?
5There they were in great dread where no dread had been;
For God scattered the bones of
Or possibly those
him who encamped against you;
You put them to shame, because God had rejected them.
6Oh, that the salvation of Israel
Lit would be
would come out of Zion!
When God
Or restores the fortunes of His people
restores His captive people,
Or Jacob will rejoice, Israel will be glad
May Jacob rejoice, may Israel be glad.
